Sogavare Terminates RAMSI Special Envoy
Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare has terminated the appointment of Michael Maina as the government's Special Envoy to the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands.
The termination took effect on November 9.
Mr Sogavare said his action stems from Mr Maina's failure to provide official reports on his performance as special envoy.
"Despite my repeated requests and directives, Mr Maina has failed to provide me with any written report on his performance on duties since his appointment," the Prime Minister said.
He said Mr Maina's persistent failure to submit regular reports on all aspects of his assignment is simply unacceptable and leaves him with no option but to terminate his contract.
Mr Maina was appointed as Special Envoy to RAMSI on May 1 this year.
