UK PM Faces Booze Industry Over Binge-Drinking
PM faces alcohol industry over binge-drinking culture
The Prime Minister met with drinks manufacturers, doctors and academics this morning to discuss the problems of under-age drinking and binge-drinking.
The seminar was set up to inform the drinks industry of upcoming Government action to help people drink more sensibly. Producers and retailers were challenged to take part in the effort to deal with unacceptable drinking or face tougher action in the future.
The industry were asked how they can increase their advertising campaigns to promote sensible drinking and combat under-age selling by retailers.
The Prime Minister told MPs at PMQs last week that he was planning to meet representatives of the drink retail industry to talk about sales and marketing practices.
