Kenya: Election Violence Affects Ogiek Areas
Election violence affects Ogiek
Survival has received reports that many Ogiek areas are effectively closed off due to the post election violence in Kenya. Police have barricaded roads leading to one area, so that people cannot leave the community.
An Ogiek spokesman told Survival today that he had not heard of any Ogiek casualties, but added, 'There is chaos everywhere and houses, schools and churches are burning. If the violence continues for much longer, we fear that our people will run out of important things like medicines.'
