New MPS Sworn-in At Parliament
The two newly elected Malaita MPs took their oaths before the Speaker of Parliament Sir Peter Kenilorea at the start of this morning's parliament session.
East Malaita MP Hon Manasseh Maelanga and Aoke Langalanga MP Mathew Cooper Wale immediately join other members in the current budget seating following the brief swearing-in ceremony.
Sir Peter congratulated the two MPs for their successful election into parliament.
Hon Maelanga won the East Malaita seat polling 1106 votes ahead of his runner-up David Toifai Misitomu who polled 748 votes.
Hon Wale won the Aoke Langalanga seat polling 1608 ballots ahead of his runner-up Billy Manu who polled 1022 votes.
Mr Maelanga replaced the late honorable Joses Sanga and Mr Wale replaced the late honorable Bartholomew Ulufa'alu.
Both former MPs died last year of illness.
