The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) stopped a cancer patient from Jenin at Ram checkpoint, and prevented them from traveling to Jerusalem to get treatment at Augusta Victoria Hospital. This hospital is the only one providing comprehensive services such as radiotherapy, chemotherapy and surgical interventions to cancer patients since the Palestinian Authority (PA) health ministry stopped referring Palestinian patients to Jordanian hospitals.
The citizen Haitham Omar Saleem Abu Bakr, 50, from Jenin said that he suffers from a serious health condition where he is in dire need of treatment at the Augusta Victoria Hospital in Jerusalem, to get blood platelets which are not available in the West Bank.
He added that the occupation prevented him from entering Jerusalem, despite receiving a medical referral from the Ministry of Health in Ramallah to follow up the treatment, but the occupation authorities refused to grant him a permit to enter Jerusalem.
