Women in Fiji need somewhere to turn, support
Fiji Cyclone Appeal
Women in Fiji need somewhere to turn if they experience violence and support in rebuilding their livelihoods.
On Saturday 20 February 2016, Fiji was hit by the strongest cyclone ever recorded in the Southern Hemisphere.
This year UN Women NCANZ will be seeking donations to end violence against women and girls in the Pacific. All donations given at the many International Women's Day events around Aotearoa New Zealand over the next few weeks will support the UN Women Fiji Cyclone Appeal.
UN Women will coordinate and monitor funding which
will go to local womens' groups in Fiji to:
- maintain
and increase crisis support and counselling
- support
temporary market spaces to provide women with an opportunity
to earn an income and access information on essential
services.
If you are not able to attend an International Women's Day event, please considermaking a donation, identifying that it is for the Fiji Cyclone Appeal.
UN Women National Committee Aotearoa New Zealand is a registered charity with the NZ Charities Commission (registration CC40606), making all donations tax refundable.
