For Northland: Showers persisting in the north and east, cloudy periods elsewhere.
In the west from Auckland to Manawatu, also for the central plateau and Bay of Plenty: Mainly fine at first. Very frosty about the central plateau. Brief showers may spread as far north as the central plateau later with snow flurries there after dark.
In the east from Gisborne to Wairarapa: Fine and frosty at first. Showers redeveloping from the south from afternoon and evening.
Kapiti Coast and Wellington: Brief showers from afternoon otherwise fine.
Nelson and the South Island west coast: Showers spread north this morning then clearing and becoming fine.
For Marlborough and Canterbury: Fine apart from brief coastal showers this morning.
In Otago and Southland: Showers becoming confined to the south coast later this morning with clearing skies elsewhere.
Chatham Islands: Showery.
