Short Forecast from Weather Workshop valid to midnight tonight.

For the North Island, also for Nelson, Buller, Marlborough, Canterbury: Fine at first. From afternoon, cloudy periods increasing in the west from Taranaki to Wellington. Also expect areas of high cloud about inland Canterbury.

Westland and Fiordland: Showers about the fiords spreading as far north as the glaciers later today. Elsewhere cloud increasing.

Otago and Southland: Mainly fine at first. Becoming cloudy about the Southland coast later with high cloud developing inland.

Chatham Islands: A mix of cloud and fine breaks.
