For the North Island: Cloudy periods today from Northland to Manawatu otherwise fine. Tomorrow cloud more extensive in the north and west with a few showers there later. Remaining fine about Bay of Plenty and from Gisborne to Wairarapa.
Nelson: Fine today. Cloud increasing tomorrow with patchy rain later to the western ranges.
Marlborough and Canterbury: Fine today apart from high cloud. Tomorrow rain about the main divide but dry further east.
West of the South Island: Patchy rain about Fiordland spreading to central Westland tonight, elsewhere cloudy. Tomorrow rain with persistent falls south of the glaciers.
Otago and Southland: Areas of high cloud today. Tomorrow rain about the western ranges and south coast. Brief falls spreading elsewhere later.
Chatham Islands: Light showers.
