In the north and west of the North Island from Northland and Auckland down to Wellington, also for the central plateau: Cloudy with showers from Taranaki south. Northerlies strong about Wellington. A few light showers tonight further north. Tomorrow, morning rain easing to showers and fine breaks.
Bay of Plenty: Cloud increasing with rain developing tomorrow morning. From afternoon, rain easing to a few showers from the west.
Gisborne to Wairarapa: High cloud increasing overnight with a period of rain tomorrow afternoon, clearing south of Napier after dark with patchy falls elsewhere.
Nelson and Marlborough: Patchy rain about the western ranges spreading elsewhere tonight. Tomorrow, morning rain easing to a few showers.
West of the South Island: Rain with heavy falls south of the glaciers. Showery tomorrow.
Canterbury: Rain about the main divide with falls spreading further east tonight and strong, gusty northwesterlies easing. Tomorrow, patchy rain from an early hour then clearing by afternoon but showers spread north late in the day.
Otago and Southland: Rain and cold tonight with snow to low levels about Southland and Central Otago. Sleet also possible near the coast. Southerly winds. Tomorrow, showers retreating to the coast but remaining cloudy.
Chatham Islands: Cloudy with a few showers developing from tomorrow afternoon.
