and Bay of Plenty:
A period of rain affecting most
places then turning
showery from afternoon.
Gisborne
to Wairarapa: Brief rain then becoming mostly fine
away
from the main ranges. Showers persisting there.
Nelson: Rain at times with heavy falls in the ranges.
Marlborough
and Canterbury: Widespread rain today.
Rain turning to
snow and lowering to about 400 metres
about south and
mid Canterbury during the afternoon and evening.
Heavy
falls expected above 800 metres.
West of the South Island:
Rain clearing from Fiordland and most
of Westland but
falls persisting further north with a few heavy
falls.
Otago and Southland: Rain easing to showers
this morning.
Snow expected above 300 metres.
Chatham Islands: Cloudy. Rain from later today.
