From Waikato to Taupo and Bay of Plenty northwards: Showers clearing this morning.
Taranaki to Manawatu, also for the central plateau: Showers, with snow to the central mountains and Desert Road this morning. Becoming mainly fine from afternoon.
Gisborne to Wairarapa, also for Wellington: Rain easing to showers this morning. Snow about the ranges. Clearing slowly from the south later.
Nelson and the South Island west coast: Remaining showers and cloud clearing from Buller and Nelson this morning otherwise fine.
Marlborough and Canterbury: Showers to coastal places north of Banks Peninsula this morning, mostly and fine frosty elsewhere.
Otago and Southland: Cloudy periods about Foveaux Strait otherwise fine and very frosty.
Chatham Island: Cold showery southwesterlies.
