For the north Island, also for Nelson and Marlborough:
Cloudy periods from Taranaki to Wellington and the odd shower
about eastern Northland otherwise mostly fine and frosty.

Canterbury: Mainly fine frosty weather. Cloud and drizzly rain
is likely this evening south of Banks Peninsula.

Buller and Westland: Cloudy. Drizzle patches from Hokitika south.

Fiordland, Otago and Southland: Rain about Fiordland spreading
elsewhere later today.

Chatham Island: A few showers turning to rain this afternoon.
