For the north Island, also for Nelson and Marlborough: Cloudy periods today from Taranaki to Wellington and the odd shower about eastern Northland otherwise mostly fine. Tomorrow, Fine to most places but late showers developing in the west from Taranaki to Manawatu and also along the Kaikoura Coast.
Canterbury: Mainly fine today. Cloud and drizzly rain is likely this evening south of Banks Peninsula. Tomorrow, drizzly rain becoming widespread.
Buller and Westland: Cloudy today. Drizzle patches from Hokitika south. Tomorrow, drizzly rain to most places.
Fiordland, Otago and Southland: Rain about Fiordland spreading elsewhere later today then easing to showers tomorrow afternoon.
Chatham Island: A few showers turning to rain this afternoon. Becoming mainly fine tomorrow.
