From Northland to Bay of Plenty, also down to Taranaki and the central plateau: Showers and fine spells.
Gisborne and Hawkes Bay: Showers about the main ranges spreading east at times today. High cloud tomorrow with showers about the ranges but dry further east.
Wanganui to Wellington, also for Wairarapa: Rain or showers clearing from most places this afternoon. A mix of cloud and fine breaks tomorrow with a few showers becoming more persistent towards evening.
Buller to central Westland, also for Nelson and Marlborough: Patchy rain.
Southern parts of Westland, Fiordland: Dry and cloudy today. Rain developing later tomorrow.
Canterbury and Otago, also for Southland: Further rain at times. More persistent and heavier falls about central and south Canterbury working into north Otago today. Tomorrow, cloudy with patchy rain.
Chatham Islands: Outbreaks of rain.
