Short Forecast from Weather Workshop valid to
midnight tomorrow.
Northland to Taranaki, also for the central plateau and Bay of Plenty: A period of rain spreading to most places today then breaking to showers from the west. A few thunderstorms likely from Hamilton northwards later. Tomorrow, a mix of cloud and fine breaks with a few showers likely, chiefly along the west coast.
Wanganui to Wellington: Cloudy periods but dry for most of today. A few drizzle patches spreading south later. Tomorrow, a few brief morning showers clearing and becoming mainly fine.
Gisborne to Wairarapa: Brief rain about northern Hawkes Bay and Gisborne this afternoon otherwise mainly fine. Tomorrow, a few coastal showers clearing. Mainly fine elsewhere.
The entire South Island: Areas of low cloud and drizzle patches about Canterbury clearing today. In most other areas fine with patchy cloud. After dark showers may develop about southern Fiordland and western Southland. Tomorrow, showery about Fiordland and coastal areas from Southland to Otago. Mainly fine elsewhere.
Chatham Islands: Cloudy with a few showers.
