Weather Workshop: short forecast

Short Forecast from Weather Workshop valid to midnight tonight:

In the north and west of the North Island from Northland to
Manawatu, also for the central high country: Showery conditions.
Some hail likely from evening and snow lowering to 900 metres
about the central plateau which includes the Desert Road.

For Bay of Plenty and Taupo, also Gisborne and Hawkes Bay:
Becoming showery and colder.

Wellington and Wairarapa: Turning colder and showery. Snow
likely to 500 metres tonight. That includes the Rimutaka Hill
Road.

Nelson: Brief clearing and becoming fine but showers persisting
about the eastern ranges.

The South Island west coast: Mostly fine and frosty.

Marlborough and Canterbury: Cold and showery with sleet to low
levels. Snow lowering to 2-300 metres tonight.

Otago and Southland: Wintry showers. Snow to 200 metres with sleet
to sea level over Southland and south Otago.

Chatham Islands: showers.
