Gisborne and
Hawkes Bay: Dry for much of the day. Showers
spreading
from the south this evening.
Wairarapa, Wellington and
Marlborough: Fine periods
this morning then showers
working north and turning colder.
Nelson: Brief showers this afternoon.
South Island west coast: Showery.
Canterbury: Becoming colder with wintry showers
from early
afternoon, chiefly coastal. Some snow to 400
metres.
Otago and Southland: Wintry showers developing
this morning
with hail. Snow to 200 metres about
Southland and 300 metres
in Otago later.
Chatham Islands: Rain easing to showers.
