Help for those have moved to Hawke’s Bay from Christchurch

Vulnerable older people, those with long term medical conditions or people with disabilities of any age who have self evacuated from Christchurch should contact Hawke’s Bay District Health Board’s needs assessment service – Options Hawke’s Bay.

Andrew Lesperance planning and performance manager said a 0800 number 0800 339 449 had been set up for those who needed support while they were in Hawke’s Bay.

Options Hawke’s Bay was able to help families who had decided to remove family members from Christchurch and was able to arrange health provider coordination for them while they were in Hawke’s Bay.

Care offered ranged from home or residential care support to respite care if it was needed.

The 0800 number will be manned on a 24 hour basis

Those people from Christchurch who needed mental health support services should contact a GP who would be able to refer them to the appropriate service.
