Residents of Heberden Avenue, Sumner have been asked to self-evacuate for safety.
We are still assessing the situation following both aftershocks between 1.30 and 2.30pm today. Other residents are advised to stay calm and check on the safety of their families and neighbours.
For those at home, if you are concerned that your house may be damaged please move to a safer location. Please limit your travel to ease congestion and make it easier for emergency services to move about the city.
