Two bridges are currently closed - Pages Road bridge at New Brighton and the bridge on Bridge Street. The overbridges at Durham and Colombo Streets on Moorhouse Ave are also currently closed.
More bridges may be closed as assessment continue.
There also reports of rockfall in Sumner area and the situation is still being assessed.
The water pressure across the city is very low. We are asking people to conserve water and to use their emergency water supplies and to limit flushing their toilets where possible.
There is large dust cloud at Mt Pleasant - residents are asked to limit their travel and stay indoors.
