CCC Media Advisory: Update 4pm Wednesday 17 August 2011
Roads
Crews made good
progress clearing roads in the hills today. Crews also
cleared footpaths around schools, bus stops and shopping
malls.
The Christchurch City Council is urging motorists to drive with caution, and to watch out for surface water caused by melting snow and recent rain.
The Council advises people to take care when walking on snow covered paths as hazards may not always be able visible.
Council Facilities
All Council
facilities that were operational before the snow storm are
now open. They include all Service Centres, Libraries (with
the exception of Mobile Library) and Sports and Recreation
Centres.
All Sports and Recreation services, including Swimsmart, are also operating.
Kerbside
Collection
Kerbside collection in the city
started again today.
Residents are advised to leave their wheelie bins at the kerbside and they will be collected as soon as possible. If bins have not been collected by next Monday, please contact the Council's Customer Call Centre on: 03 941 8999 or 0800 800 169.
