File UN report in the dustbin - Brownlee

National's Maori Affairs spokesman, Gerry Brownlee says it's fascinating to watch the Labour Government distancing itself from a report on race relations in New Zealand "having been so craven about garnering favour with the UN".

UN Special Rapporteur Rodolfo Stavenhagen has made 15 recommendations yet only one relates to the Seabed and Foreshore Act, which was actually the catalyst for his visit.

"I think the recommendations show a huge lack of understanding from an official who was in the country for just nine days.

"The Government should show this report the respect it deserves by throwing it straight into the dustbin," says Mr Brownlee.
