Producers Must Have Say On Producer Board Changes |
||
United New Zealand leader, Hon Peter Dunne, says producers must have the final say on the Government's plans to restructure producer boards.
He says that the Government had to back off its plans to force producer board restructuring year, when it became obvious there was no producer support for its them.
"The same point applies equally strongly today."
"The Government cannot force change on producers - all it can do is create the environment within which change can occur, but subject to the overall agreement of the producers themselves."
"The legislation the Government intends introducing over the next few days must therefore give producers the opportunities to have a say on the future of their industries, otherwise it will be a case of last year all over again, and the Government will be forced to back down once again," he says.
