Finding out information about Waimakariri¹s Stormwater Project is now even easier, with the establishment of a new website.

Flooding is a problem in the Waimakariri District but a major project was launched in August of last year to look at how to upgrade the stormwater systems.

There is more than one option and as this is an issue for the whole community and not just council, every effort is being made to ensure it is easy to access information.

"Having a website gives residents easy access to all they need to know about the project and they can do this from the comfort of their own home," says Trevor Minchington, Waimakariri District Council¹s Drainage Assets Manager.

The site will feature information about the project, public meeting times and venues, details and feedback as it becomes available from the stormwater focus groups and e-mail contacts for the stormwater team.

The website will allow surfers to download documents relating to the project including the Issues and Options documents.

"Residents will also be able to e-mail us any questions they may have about the project or any suggestions or feedback."

"We are committed to making sure everyone has access to information about the project so they can make informed decisions on how the Council should upgrade the districts Stormwater systems," says Mr Minchington.

"There¹s also a wealth of information for schools on the site. Especially the fact sheets which tell people about ways they can keep stormwater clean so it doesn¹t get into our waterways and destroy the vital fish, plant life and insects," says Waimakariri District Council¹s Design Engineer Rob Kerr.
