Forum for Manurewa’s Youth
Tired of others trying to solve ‘youth problems’? Want to get involved and contribute to finding local solutions for local youth problems?
Manukau City Council is holding a youth forum for 10-25 year olds on Saturday 12 May at the Clendon Community Centre.
John Durham, Council’s Manurewa Community Advisor, says the forum will give Manurewa and Clendon youth an opportunity to express how they feel about the community, discuss local solutions for local youth problems, and mix with youth from other schools.
“We’re running the free forum from 9am to 5pm, using discussion workshops and creative workshops. At the end of the day we’ll be presenting our findings to the community and parents and discuss ‘where to from here’.
“It is only common sense that the people who are most affected by youth problems are given the opportunity to help solve them,” he said.
Lunch is provided at no cost. The forum is followed by a dance event at 7pm ($3 door charge).
Anyone wishing to attend the forum, or wanting to find out more, should phone John Durham on 09-266 5195 or 025-299 5765.
