Regional Council Welcomes Commerce Commission Clearance for Stagecoach
The Wellington Regional Council has welcomed the Commerce Commission’s decision to give clearance to Stagecoach to be a 50% shareholder in a joint venture with Wellington Regional Council to acquire 100% of the assets of Tranz Metro (Wellington).
“The Commission’s decision removes one further uncertainty from the process we are engaged in,” said Regional Council Chairperson Margaret Shields.
Margaret Shields said that the WRC is currently evaluating proposals from three potential joint venture partners.
“We are also continuing to consult with Councils in the region over the future of passenger rail.”
