Auckland Regional Council release Draft Regional Road
Safety Plan for comment
The draft regional road
safety plan just approved by the Auckland Regional Council
and released for comment proposes a range of strategies to
further reduce the Auckland region’s road toll to around 50
by 2006.
Auckland Regional Councillor Catherine Harland, Chairwoman of the Passenger Transport Committee says, “Road safety agencies in the Auckland region are adopting a long-term ‘vision zero’ approach to road safety which seeks to eliminate road deaths and minimise serious injuries through improvements in road design and coordinated education and enforcement efforts.”
