Current Aerial Operation Suspended At 10.50am (Sunday 16 February) Due To Unfavourable Weather Conditions
Today’s aerial operation to wipe out the painted apple moth was suspended at 10.50am TODAY due to rising air temperatures.
The aerial operation commenced at 6.30am this morning - aircraft were in the air for just under three and a half hours. “The weather held out well and we managed to complete approximately 50% percent of the 10,000-hectare eradication zone. There is approximately 5,000 hectares to complete” said Robert Isbister, General Manager Painted Apple Moth.
The operation is expected to recommence tomorrow or on the first day that weather permits. It may take more than one day to complete.
If aircraft are in the air on a school day – there will be no flying between 8.00 to 9.00am, 12.15 to 1.00pm and 3.00 to 4.00pm. This no fly time coincides with the times children are most likely to travel to and from school and eat their lunch.
