Khyber Pass on-ramp closed
Khyber Pass on-ramp closed
Transit New Zealand advises all motorists that the Khyber Pass on-ramp will be closed to traffic from 7am Sunday 22 June until 6 am Monday 23 June.
During this time motorists will not be able to use the on-ramp to access the Southern Motorway. The closure is required to allow essential work on the on-ramp.
From Monday 23 June, the ongoing programme of night closures of the on-ramp will resume. The night closures are for widening works and will occur intermittently until March 2004.
The work is part of Stage 1 (Khyber Pass to Gillies Ave) of the Central Motorway Junction upgrading project which, when completed, will improve efficiency, safety and access.
Motorists are requested to use alternative
on-ramps during the closure. In case of inclement weather
the closure will take place on the following weekend of
Sunday 29 June. For more information on the project, visit
the project information centre at the corner of Stanley
Street & Alten Road, phone 0800 ToFreeflow (0800 863 733) or
visit the Transit website www.transit.govt.nz.
