Lane, ramp and partial local road closures continue this week as work progresses steadily on Stage I of Transit’s Central Motorway Junction upgrading project. These are outlined below:

Khyber Pass on and off-ramps – CLOSED – during the day, Sunday 5 October from 7am until 6am the following morning (Monday 6 October). Also – CLOSED – at night 8pm to 6am from Monday 6 to Thursday 9 October.

Symonds Street on-ramp (Southbound) – CLOSED – at night 8pm to 6am Sunday 5 to Thursday 9 October.

Sections of Boston Road and Khyber Pass Road – CLOSED – during the day, Sunday 5 October from 7am until 6am the following morning (Monday 6 October). Also – CLOSED – at night 8pm to 6am from Monday 6 to Thursday 9 October.

SH16 to SH1 link (North-western to Southern Motorway) – CLOSED – at night 8pm to 6am Sunday 5 to Thursday 9 October.

Wellesley Street off-ramp (heading into the city) – CLOSED – during the day from 7am Saturday 4 October until 6am the Monday morning (6 October).

Wellesley Street and Port off-ramp – CLOSED - at night 8pm to 6am, Monday 6 to Thursday 9 October.

Please choose alternative on- and off-ramps during these times.

Alternative routes will be clearly signposted at roadwork sites. All closures are weather permitting. In the event of bad weather, work will be postponed until the next clear night. Temporary barriers are erected and cones placed in all areas.

Motorists are advised that there could be delays.

Ongoing north and southbound lane closures at night until 2005:

Southern Motorway between the Gillies Avenue on- and off-ramps and the Symonds Street over-bridge until 2005 – north and southbound lane closures at night. At least one lane will remain open to traffic at all times.

The CMJ Project Stage 1 of Transit’s Central Motorway Junction upgrade project covers the section of motorway between the Upper Queen Street over-bridge and Gillies Avenue on- and off-ramps and is scheduled for completion in 2005.
