CMJ Traffic Bulletin: Until Thursday 18 March

Stage 1 of Transit New Zealand’s Central Motorway Junction upgrade project continues. There are significant closures affecting motorists over the coming week, these are outlined below:

Motorway closures: Full motorway closure (SH1 north and southbound) • All north and southbound lanes on the Khyber Pass Viaduct – CLOSED - between 12.00am and 4.00am on Tuesday 16 March.

Detour: SH1 northbound traffic - off at Khyber Pass off-ramp and on at Wellington Street on-ramp.

Detour: SH1 southbound traffic - off at Cook Street off-ramp and on at Khyber Pass on-ramp. Northbound motorway closure (SH1 northbound) • All northbound lanes on the Khyber Pass Viaduct - CLOSED - between 12.00am and 3.00am on Wednesday 17 and Thursday 18 March.

Detour: northbound traffic - off at Khyber Pass off-ramp and on at Wellington St on-ramp (SH1 northbound) or on at Newton Rd on-ramp (SH16 westbound).

Lane, ramp and link closures: Port on-ramp (SH1 southbound) and Wellesley Street on-ramp (SH1 southbound) CLOSED - from 8pm Friday 12 March until 8pm Sunday 14 March. CLOSED - at night from 8pm to 6am Monday 15 March.

Symonds Street on-ramp (SH1 southbound) CLOSED - at night from 8pm to 6am from Sunday 14 March until Thursday 18 March.

Gillies Ave on-ramp (SH1 northbound) CLOSED - at night from 8pm to 6am Sunday 14 March and Tuesday 16 March to Thursday 18 March.

Khyber Pass off-ramp (SH1 northbound) CLOSED - at night from 8pm to 6am on Sunday 14 March and Tuesday 16 March to Thursday 18 March 2004.

Northwestern to Southern Motorway link (SH16 to SH1) CLOSED - at night from 8pm to 6am from Sunday 14 March, until Thursday 18 March 2004.

Port to Northwestern Motorway link CLOSED - at night from 8pm to 6am from Sunday 14 March until Friday 19 March 2004.

Hobson Street on-ramp (SH1 southbound) • CLOSED - at night from 8pm to 6am Monday 15 March 2004.

Wellesley Street on-ramp (SH16 westbound) CLOSED - at night from 8pm to 6am Tuesday 16 March 2004.

Northwestern Motorway to Port link CLOSED - at night from 8pm to 6am Wednesday 17 March and Thursday 18 March 2004.

Port / Wellesley off-ramp (SH1 northbound) CLOSED - at night from 8pm to 6am Thursday 18 March 2004.

There will also be ongoing north and southbound lane closures at night on the Southern Motorway between the Gillies Avenue on and off-ramps and the Symonds Street over-bridge from Sunday through Thursday nights until 2005.

Please choose alternative on- and off-ramps during these times. Motorists are advised that there could be delays. The CMJ Project Stage 1 of Transit’s Central Motorway Junction upgrade project covers the section of motorway between the Upper Queen Street over-bridge and Gillies Avenue on- and off-ramps and is scheduled for completion in 2005.
