Support For Paekakariki Lights

*Support For Paekakariki Lights*
Porirua City Councillor Robert Shaw, who is a member of the Regional Land Transport Committee, said he supports the establishment of lights at the intersection of State Highway One and Paekakariki.
Councillor Shaw said the lights might be a short term measure until Transmission Gully is built, when the situation should be reviewed.
The Council should at that time manage the road in the interests of the local people and not the commuters.
The lights at Paekakariki are just one of many small projects forced on us because of the delays in building Transmission Gully. The fact is there is money for small projects and not for the major works that are needed.
Cr Shaw said he had asked that
this idea be further reported to the Regional Land
Transport Strategy Committee.
