Dear Neighbours, Friends, and Fellow Residents of Auckland City

This is to let you know that I have thrown my hat into the ring as a candidate for election to the Auckland Regional Council. I am standing as an independent.

I hope you are able to distribute this through your networks so that as many people as possible cast an informed vote.

Where I stand:

- Auckland - a place to stand for each of us

- Strong sustainability - people and the natural landscape come first

- Local Government = government by the locals

- Core values of partnership, protection and participation

- Recognition of and respect for the dignity and prior rights of existing communities

- Protecting our heritage for our grandchildren

- Community spirit and a civil society.

My priorities are:

- Rewrite Auckland City¡¯s ¡°Growth Strategy¡± to prevent any more high-rise slums

- An end to short-sighted, piecemeal change

- Water - a human right

- Clean air, clear waterways

- Informed, participation by locals in policy making

- Restoring a culture of not-for-profit public service

- Fair rates to recognise the ability of people to pay.

I am:

- Independent - no more party dogma

- Experienced in public consultation, democratic processes, and grassroots advocacy

- Mother of a teenage son

- Foundation member - Wake Up Auckland movement.
