North Shore City mayor welcomes Air NZ to Takapuna

North Shore City's mayor George Wood is celebrating Air New Zealand's decision to establish a contact centre in Takapuna.

The airline has decided to split the current Auckland contact centre operation over two sites. The existing contact centre will remain in Auckland City, with about 180 positions moving to the new location in the Toll building at Smales Farm Technology Office Park in Takapuna. "I'm delighted that after an exhaustive evaluation process our national carrier has chosen our city as the ideal location for the new contact centre," Mr Wood says.

"North Shore City is building a strong reputation as a great place to do business in the growing information technology and communications fields.

"Air New Zealand's decision shows we have the infrastructure, the facilities, the environment and the skilled people to attract the best in the business.

"This is great news for our residents who will have even greater opportunities to live and work in this city. We encourage businesses which are high-tech and have a low environmental impact to come to our shores.

"Our goal is to attract 'clean and green' operators that will ensure high value and challenging local jobs for residents, now and in the future."

The mayor says the move by Air New Zealand is the latest in a series of similar large-scale contact centres that have chosen North Shore City, providing work opportunities for our residents.

"North Shore City is committed to working with these and similar employers to increase the attractiveness of the city and further increase business and employment opportunities," Mr Wood says.
