North Shore City's mayor, George Wood, is proud that his city is recognised as a great place to do business, and that it celebrates its successful business people

The city celebrated local business success at last week's prestigious Westpac Enterprise North Shore Business Excellence Awards at the Bruce Mason Centre.

"With an economy that grew by 7.1 per cent over the year to March 2003, North Shore City is widely recognised as a great place to do business and to be in business," he says.

"The city's quality of life and natural environment are what bring people here, and it's great to see that more businesses are choosing to come here too."

Awards were presented to companies who have shown excellence in a variety of categories over the last year, and a new Business of Hall of Fame was unveiled to recognise outstanding local business people who have contributed to the city's economy and the community.

Mr Wood congratulated the four exceptional local business leaders who were the first to enter the city's Business Hall of Fame.

Roberts Electrical managing director Ralph Roberts, Smales Farm directors Jim and Geoff Smale, and founder of The Warehouse, Stephen Tindall, were inaugurated at last week's awards ceremony.

George Wood says these individuals have continued to make a huge contribution to this city and its community, and it is wonderful to see them recognised for their efforts and achievements.
