Plane crash kills two in Taranaki
Some wreckage of an aircraft has been located about 6kms east of Stratford.
The wreckage is believed to be from an Airworks Metroliner aircraft, operating on behalf of NZ Post, on a scheduled flight between Auckland and Blenheim.
There were no survivors.
Rescue Coordination Centre New Zealand (RCCNZ) were alerted to the missing aircraft by Christchurch Air Traffic Control at about 10:20pm last night.
A New Plymouth based helicopter sent to the area by RCCNZ located the first piece of wreckage at about 11:45pm.
The helicopter and search and rescue ground teams are currently trying to locate the rest of the wreckage while Police are recovering the two bodies and securing the scene.
