Concerns Aired at Glen Innes Housing Forum

Concerns Aired at Glen Innes Housing Forum last night

Over 80 residents of the Glen Innes Community attended a Housing Forum organised by the Tamaki Community Board in Glen Innes last night.

“The meeting was called to provide residents more information about the proposed plan change 61 and also to answer questions about the plan change” said Deputy Community Board Chair Kate Sutton

Plan Change 61 and Residential 8 Zoning proposals in the City Council’s draft plan would see the maximum allowed building height in residential areas increased from two to three storeys.

The number of dwellings allowed on each property would also be raised.

“The messages from the community were loud and clear; Health, Education and infrastructure must be more than adequately accounted for before any changes take place.” Sutton continued

Deputy Mayor Bruce Hucker and Manager of City Planning for the City Council John Duffy were at the meeting to address the questions from the community.

“Although this is a serious issue it was great to see so many people engaged with proposed changes in their community and interested in the future of the community.” Sutton ended.
