Manukau’s Virtual Library Services’ Popularity Increases
While 2,700,000 visitors to Manukau Libraries this year walked through the door, nearly 300,000 people visited www.manukaulibraries.govt.nz.
Manukau Libraries involvement in AnyQuestions, a finalist in the 3m Awards for Innovation in Libraries, is a direct contributor to the increase in virtual traffic. Students have access to real time help with homework from a librarian online who can direct them to study resources.
The new resource ‘Manukau's Journey’, a history of Manukau online, and ‘Manukau in Poetry’ are features of the e-resources collection. Visits to Research Databases have increased by nearly 5000 in the last year.
Over 65,000 books were requested through the online catalogue, an increase of more than 10,000 from the previous year.
New services have now been added with the new online catalogue launched in July enabling Manukau residents to search the catalogues of other libraries from the greater Auckland region.
