Transit welcomes certainty of SH20 Avondale motorway route

Transit New Zealand welcomes Auckland City Council’s endorsement of its (Transit’s) Waterview option, which brings certainty to the SH20 motorway extension through Avondale says Chief Executive Rick van Barneveld.

“At the same time we appreciate that residents along the proposed route need certainty as far as their homes are concerned and we will be working closely with Auckland City Council to reach finality,” he says.

Mr van Barneveld says he expects the ‘broad footprint’ of the route, including the intersection with Great North Road, to be finalised by no later than June next year. “However, we will do everything possible to bring this forward so that all concerned will know as soon as possible where they stand.”
