Take the bus or train... 2 easy ways to get to U2

U2 fans heading to this weekend’s Vertigo tour concerts can avoid parking hassles and battling against the traffic by taking one of many special shuttle buses and trains, and regular services, to get to Mt Smart stadium and home again.

The Auckland Regional Transport Authority’s (ARTA) Acting General Manager, Infrastructure and Rail, Fergus Gammie says, “To help U2 fans get easily to and from the concerts we’re running frequent special bus and train services to Mt Smart Stadium. In addition to special services normal, scheduled bus and train services will also be running.

“Fans should allow plenty of time to get to the stadium in time for the concert, especially on Friday evening when they will be travelling with regular commuters.

Any fans planning to stay out late in Auckland’s CBD can take advantage of the Wellesley St based NiteRider late night bus services which operate on Friday and Saturdays between 1.00am – 3.00am and go to many destinations around the region and offer an excellent way to get home.

On Friday and Saturday regular bus and train services will run as usual. Special U2 shuttle buses will depart from Custom’s Street East in Auckland’s CBD between 3.00pm – 7.00pm returning to Albert Street and Britomart from Mt Smart’s Gate A on Maurice Road from 11.00pm – 12.00am. While special trains depart from Britomart to Penrose Station to get to the concert. Returning after the concert, the last train from Penrose departs to Papakura at 12.27am, Waitakere at 12.20am and Britomart at 1.00am.
