Rare And Beautiful Shells
Rare and beautiful shells from around the world will be on display to the public at the New Zealand Shell Show - to be held in the Lower Hutt Town Hall, Laings Road Lower Hutt, on 27 & 28 January 2007.
The Show is organised by the Wellington Shell Club, which also ran the NZ shell shows in 1995 & 2002.
The Show will feature
• competitive and educational displays of NZ and
world-wide shells and shellcraft
• sales of shells,
shell books and shellcraft
• a range of entries in a
colouring competition by children throughout the Wellington
region.
Most of the shells on display will be sea shells, but there will also be land snails and fossils to view. The Show will be open 10am – 5pm on Saturday 27 January, and 10am – 4pm on Sunday 28 January. Admission price is $3 for adults, $1 for children.
Wellington Shell Club is a not-for-profit club associated with Te Papa Tongarewa and established in 1955. The Club aims to encourage knowledge about and enthusiasm for shells, in a friendly atmosphere. Its members come from all over the Wellington region and further afield, including overseas.
