Chinese Consulate pressures local politician

1. North Shore City Mayor George Wood accepted by email that he will attend Divine Performing Arts with his wife, but after the Chinese Consulate called him last week he backed out.
Chinese officials in New Zealand are exerting pressure on sponsors and VIPs in attempts to block support for the international cultural show to be held at The Civic, April 5, 2007.

2. Chinese Herald had an advertising contract with New Tang Dynasty Culture and Arts Exchange. The contract was signed for 3 insertions but the third was cancelled due to the pressure from the Chinese Consulate.

3. During their 4-month global tour this group has experienced severe inteference from Chinese officials. The interference in NZ is the latest in a series of events from the USA to Canada, Europe and Australia.

4. Divine Performing Arts are devoted to bringing back the original and divine cultures of ancient China, most of which has been destroyed through communist rule, including the 1960s Cultural Revolution.
The interference from Chinese officials is an attempt to maintain their communist ideology.
