Fieldays baits the Bachelor trap with great prizes

The search continues for the country’s most eligible rural bachelors this week with just three weeks left for country blokes to enter the competition.

Bachelors from the Northland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Manawatu, Hawkes Bay, Otago and Southland regions will be joined by a ‘Wildcard’ entrant this year, leaving no stone unturned in the search for the Fieldays Rural Bachelor of the Year.

Entrants will be whittled down in regional semifinals run by their local Classic Hits station with the eight finalists centrestage at Fieldays, 13 – 16 June. Each finalist will be kitted out with clothing from Swanndri and boots from Skellerup to match their celebrity status at the event. In addition, they will enjoy a fridge full of Waikato Draught to drink at the top-secret bachelor pad and take home $500 BBQ Factory vouchers.

Christen Dimond of Waitomo took away the Fieldays Rural Bachelor of the Year title and Golden Gumboot trophy in 2006 and says that the Rural Bachelor Competition is a great opportunity for rural guys to put themselves out there and experience something new. “I had a great time at Fieldays, I used skills from the farm but also enjoyed the challenges of other heats that really stretched my abilities,” he says.

2007 finalist heats will include a range of rural challenges including fencing, digger driving and logging skills in addition to a BBQ Factory King cookoff and the return of the popular ‘For the Ladies’ heat, held at Centreplace in Hamilton City. New in 2007 is the Suzuki Cheerleader heat, sure to appeal to many Bachelor hopefuls.
