Road widening works start on Great South Road
Auckland City Council reminds motorists that work to widen Great South Road will start on Tuesday, 5 June.
The road widening is part of Project Greenlane, a council initiative to give Aucklanders more sustainable travel choices.
A safety median along Great South Road (from Green Lane West to Campbell Road), will be installed this weekend (2 to 4 June).
The median will restrict right hand turning into and out of Great South Road and will ensure safety is maintained for all road users and the council’s construction team.
The median will remain in place for around 16 weeks while work on the eastern side of Great South Road is completed.
Widening Great South Road will create two new lanes that will help keep traffic flowing and reduce queuing.
