Hotline for Northland, Auckland and Thames/Coromandel 0800 779 997

This message is a request from the Director of the Ministry of Civil Defence, John Hamilton, to all media operating in the northern North Island. Where possible, would you please include the welfare assistance number in stories about the flooding and weather in the northern North Island?

Any people requiring welfare assistance (e.g. accommodation, non-emergency medical issues, food, etc) should telephone 0800 779 997. The emergency number is 111.

The 0800 number will be active throughout the recovery phase and is a key link for people needing welfare assistance.
