Latest Update: Rodney storm conditions
Latest Update: Rodney storm
conditions
- there are no known
critical welfare issues at this time
- areas that have suffered flooding to date: Kaipara Flats, Woodcocks Rd in Warkworth; Whangaripo Valley Road; Tomarata Valley; Kanohi Road, Kaukapakapa
- ring the emergency help line on 0800 779 997 to report cases of distress that may require welfare assistance
- stay at home, but if you need to drive do so with care: slow down, keep your distance from the vehicle in front, slow down
- sodden ground that hasn't recovered from last week's deluge is increasing the likelihood of slips and trees falling - we are monitoring the situation and will provide updates as any incidents are reported
- Civil defence is closely monitoring the situation and is in regular contact with local welfare agencies, Vector and other power retailers. Vector has brought in relief repair crews from Wellington and Morrinsville to help get power back on in e but the weather is effecting this
- All resources, on all fronts are on deck and we are doing absolutely everything we can to ensure the elderly and those at risk in our community are taken care of first. The council has provided gas heaters and generators to those in genuine need and a new generator is being installed permanently at Whangateau Holiday Park.
- Ministry of Social Development centres remain open in Helensville and Warkworth
- Hot showers are available at the Whangateau, Orewa and Parakai Holiday Parks and the Hibiscus Coast Leisure Centre
- Rodney District Council's Chief Executive, Vijaya Vaidyanath, says "council staff and volunteers have done and continue to do a truly outstanding job under exceptionally difficult situations, and it really is a matter of 'all hands on deck'."
