Submissions fly in
AUCKLAND CITY COUNCIL
MEDIA RELEASE

Submissions fly in
Auckland City Council has
received more than 600 submissions on the future of its
stake in Auckland Airport.
Submissions closed on Wednesday, and the council is encouraged by the number of residents and ratepayers who came forward with their views on the issue.
Although officers have not thoroughly analysed the content of the submissions yet, there is a wide range of opinions expressed.
While at first glance there is opposition to selling, there is also some interest in restructuring our shareholding if this is in the best interests of residents and ratepayers.
The council will hear oral submissions on 27 August, after which it will decide whether to amend its long-term plan on 3 September. The council can only restructure or transfer ownership of its 12.75 per cent shareholding in the airport if the decision is included in its long-term plan.
The council will consider the results of public consultation as well as a number of other relevant factors before making a decision.
