Quad biker injured in the Wairarapa
The Wellington based Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called to a quad bike accident in the Southern Wairarapa early this afternoon [Sunday].
A 51 year old Carterton woman was injured when her quad bike rolled approximately 20 metres down a hill in an accident near Wharekauhau Lodge.
"Family members managed to get her back up the hill before we arrived" says Dave Greenberg, Westpac Rescue Helicopter crewman. "The family members and staff from the lodge looked after her until we arrived".
The helicopter, with a Wellington Free Ambulance paramedic onboard, arrived at the scene about 1230 this afternoon and once stabilising the patient she was transported to Wellington Hospital Emergency Department.
After x-rays were taken the woman was found to be suffering from minor injuries and has been discharged from hospital.
This was the second quad bike accident, in the Wairarapa, that the helicopter has attended this weekend.
