Paraparaumu Airport Demonstration
Paraparaumu Airport Demonstration
'Banjo Bernie' and the 'Railway Revellers' will be rendering traditional railway songs for commuters at the Paekakariki Station from 6.30am tomorrow, Wednesday (12/9/07).
The aim will be to get commuters tapping their feet and singing the praises of local woman Lyndy McIntyre who is standing for the Paekakariki/Raumati ward in the local body elections.
Ms McIntyre is a founding member of the Transport Action Group, which helped persuade the Regional Council to immediately order 70 new carriages for the Kapiti line - and initiate other improvements to the service.
But Ms McIntyre and her supporters will be telling commuters this is not enough in view of the threat of Climate Change and the imperative need to get people out of cars and into railway carriages.
Among other things, they'll be calling for an immediate freeze on any fare rises until the service improves radically.
What: 'Railway Songs for Commuters' from KCDC Candidate Lyndy McIntyre Where: Paekakariki Railway Station When: 6.30 am to 8.00 am, Wednesday, September 12
